So don't think it is impossible to have your indentity hacked. You may think you protect your info well but a lot depends on others such as banks, CCC, hospitals and retail stores that you have used your credit card in. I safeguard my private info really well and never storage any of my private info online. Only banks have my SSN and DOB, but not 100% of all my info. So I know the applicant can't be from my family. But some of the info on file is still incorrect. Since the FICO was pulled, the applicant has my SSN and DOB. Other pages say all the Terms and Conditions. The first page of the letter says the card is approved. Capital One opened one CC for me before, several years ago. Why this is not possible? Wells Fargo did it. The person who likely opened this account has clearly compromised your information and will likely request a replacement card to an "alternate address". What did Capital One say when you told them that you did not apply for this? This should be handled as a fraud application.
